CSS replicates Carolina on a smaller scale, allowing me to connect with a close-knit group of peers who share similar interests in STEM and research, and who support one another.

WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE CSS PROGRAM AND CAROLINA?

Carolina has been a school I always considered because of its community. The welcoming and diverse community it has allows me to meet unique people every single day. CSS replicates Carolina on a smaller scale, allowing me to connect with a close-knit group of peers who share similar interests in STEM and research, and who support one another.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO EXPERIENCING AT CAROLINA OVER THE NEXT FOUR YEARS?

I look forward to the endless opportunities found here at Carolina and in research at the Gillings School of Public Health. I want to connect with people who share similar interests, collaborate to further my passions, and hopefully discover new ones. Also, I look forward to experiencing and sharing the Carolina sports spirit with those around me. Go Heels!

WHAT RESEARCH TOPIC(S) ARE YOU INTERESTED IN EXPLORING AND WHY?

I am interested in researching the crossover between epigenetics and cardiovascular epidemiology in order to understand how genetic and environmental factors interplay with cardiovascular health. I am fascinated by the cardiovascular system, specifically the heart, since it is the most powerful organ that is interconnected with every aspect of the human body.

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH IN YOUR FUTURE STEM CAREER?

Wherever I end up, I aim to inspire and lead young women, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, by breaking down stereotypes and showcasing the incredible contributions that diverse individuals can make in STEM fields.
