To be considered for the Chancellor’s Science Scholars Program, interested high school seniors of all backgrounds must apply to Carolina by the October 15th Early Action application deadline. Simply select Chancellor’s Science Scholars as one of your scholarship choices in the special opportunities found in the Common Application’s UNC supplement.

Finalists will be selected based on academic excellence, demonstrated interest in STEM programs and careers, leadership, community involvement, and commitment to advancing and broadening participation within STEM. If you are chosen as a finalist, we will invite you to answer two additional short-answer questions and to join us on campus in February for Selection Weekend, where you will learn more about the CSS program and interview with Carolina faculty and staff. Final decisions will be sent via email approximately two weeks after Selection Weekend.

Please check back soon for details about our next Selection Weekend events, which will be held in early 2025. Finalists will interview for the program with UNC faculty and staff, meet with current scholars in their fields of interest, learn about some of UNC’s innovative research, and participate in other activities designed to introduce them to the wide variety of opportunities available at Carolina.
