Carolina has so many professors doing interesting research, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to get to work with them.

WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE CSS PROGRAM AND CAROLINA?

I wanted to be a part of the CSS program when I witnessed the structure and support it offered, promising me a surefire path to success while also granting me the versatility to navigate my career journey. The idea of being surrounded by a cohort of diverse-minded individuals, all driven to learn more, made CSS stand out. Moreover, the scholarship has appeal in its ability to make college more accessible to me while allowing me to still fully immerse myself in research and internships, without the stress of paying for college.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO EXPERIENCING AT CAROLINA OVER THE NEXT FOUR YEARS?

I am most looking forward to making memories with new friends I make as well as joining a research lab sometime soon. Carolina has so many professors doing interesting research, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to get to work with them.

WHAT RESEARCH TOPIC(S) ARE YOU INTERESTED IN EXPLORING AND WHY?

Right now what most interests me in terms of research is pharmacoengineering and chemistry. I am super interested in the development of medicines and advancements in drug design, formulation, delivery, and personalized medicine, ultimately improving patient outcomes and the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH IN YOUR FUTURE STEM CAREER?

I would like to pursue a masters or PhD in either biomedical engineering or chemical engineering, so I can continue to pursue my education in STEM while also advancing my knowledge in order to eventually help improve the lives of others. I know it says one thing, but to tie in another, I hope to be a role model for another little girl out there, who wants to do big things in STEM, just like my mother was for me.
