“While I would love to work on a device that dramatically changes lives, the thing I most hope to accomplish is to mentor other women of color who hope to get into STEM research.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE CSS PROGRAM AND CAROLINA?
Apart from the obvious, the message and mission of CSS resonated with me. I’ve wanted to support people who want to become STEM professionals anyways, so I was really excited when I was invited to join a group dedicated to that same mission. Additionally, I was excited about the idea of a cohort, finding people who wanted the same thing, knowing them before my time at Carolina even started, and sticking with them until the end.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO EXPERIENCING AT CAROLINA OVER THE NEXT FOUR YEARS?
I am really looking forward to joining some of the clubs and organizations here at Carolina! Coming from a small town, there weren’t that many people that shared my interests, so I’m super excited to find people who share some of the same niche loves.
WHAT RESEARCH TOPIC(S) ARE YOU INTERESTED IN EXPLORING AND WHY?
I would love to explore the areas of human computer interaction, hopefully in its intersection with the internet of things. I love the idea of using technology and theory to improve the quality of living.
WHAT IS ONE THING YOU HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH IN YOUR FUTURE STEM CAREER?
While I would love to work on a device that dramatically changes lives, the thing I most hope to accomplish is to mentor other women of color who hope to get into STEM research.
