Research Interest: Molecular Biology and Regenerative Biology

At Carolina, I’m super excited to dive deeper into my interests in molecular biology and research, join student groups that align with my passions, and get deeply engaged with the community, both within and beyond campus.

WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE CSS PROGRAM AND CAROLINA?

Something that really drew me to Carolina was the fact that it offers a plethora of opportunities through which students like me can get involved with research and grow their understanding of the world. I also value how Carolina has a pretty diverse population of students. There are niche communities on campus that intersect with various parts of my identity, and I’m really excited to build community with others through some of these groups. In addition, I grew up in Chapel Hill, and at Carolina, I can continue to serve and be engaged with the Chapel Hill community. Moreover, I was really drawn to CSS because of how it’s a strong, supportive community of ambitious people of color all passionate about science, research, and intellectual discovery like me!

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO EXPERIENCING AT CAROLINA OVER THE NEXT FOUR YEARS?

At Carolina, I’m super excited to dive deeper into my interests in molecular biology and research, join student groups that align with my passions, and get deeply engaged with the community, both within and beyond campus.

WHAT RESEARCH TOPIC(S) ARE YOU INTERESTED IN EXPLORING AND WHY?

I’m very interested in exploring genetics and regenerative biology because both fields are incredibly vast and applicable to many areas of healthcare. Specifically, I think research in genetics and regenerative biology can really enable us to improve people’s well-being, such as through improving the healing process, the aging process, and more! I’m also really interested in exploring space biology because there is so much we can discover about how the environment of space affects living things and the ways that an understanding of such processes can be applied to medicine and life on Earth in beneficial ways!

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH IN YOUR FUTURE STEM CAREER?

I would love to be able to publish research that contributes to biomedicine and our understanding of the world.
