Through CSS, I envision myself taking advantage of the opportunities and resources offered at Carolina, fostering lifelong connections, and pursuing my career in the STEM field

WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE CSS PROGRAM AND CAROLINA?

What attracted me to Carolina were the incredible diversity and the endless STEM-related opportunities the university offered. At UNC, I will face challenges from every angle, but I know there are plenty of resources, such as CSS, to support me throughout my undergraduate career. CSS heavily emphasizes inclusivity and community, which deeply resonates with my values. Through CSS, I envision myself taking advantage of the opportunities and resources offered at Carolina, fostering lifelong connections, and pursuing my career in the STEM field.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO EXPERIENCING AT CAROLINA OVER THE NEXT FOUR YEARS?

During my time at Carolina over the next four years, I am excited to meet people from diverse backgrounds and cultures, explore Franklin Street and Carrboro, enjoy picnics on the Quad, and engage in various research topics!

WHAT RESEARCH TOPIC(S) ARE YOU INTERESTED IN EXPLORING AND WHY?

I am interested in further understanding antibiotic resistance because it is a silent pandemic that affects global health. Through Carolina’s boundless research opportunities and the immense support of CSS, I hope to discover how antibiotic resistance will evolve in the future and ways to reduce its negative impact on our community.

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH IN YOUR FUTURE STEM CAREER?

In my future STEM career, I hope to ignite a passion for STEM among the younger generations, especially those who are underrepresented.
