WHY did you decide to join the CSS Program and come to Carolina?
From even just the interview weekend, CSS was such a welcoming and supportive community. I saw diverse, passionate individuals excelling in STEM and knew that this was a program I could find a home in.
WHAT are you most looking forward to doing during your undergraduate years?
I’m most excited to form new communities and develop new interests and passions.
what is a research topic you are interested in exploring?
Senior year of high school, I researched under Dr. Jennifer Smith at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. I used qualitative coding on survey answers regarding cervical cancer screening methods and access. I would love to find similar public health research that works to bridge disparities using statistical and computational methods.
WHAT are your future goals?
After I graduate, I would like to teach and attend graduate school. I hope to receive a PhD in Biostatistics and continue research throughout my career.
