What attracted you to the CSS program and Carolina?
I was drawn to the idea of a STEM program focused on diversifying the students going into Ph.D. and M.D./Ph.D programs. I came from a STEM program that was not the most supportive of its diversity students, and CSS seemed to be more along the lines of what I wished my high school program was.
What are you most looking forward to experiencing at Carolina over the next four years?
I am very excited to participate in Undergraduate Research in the next four years. Some of the clubs on campus also caught my attention during orientation so I would like to delve deeper into the extracurriculars offered at UNC.
What research topic(s) are you interested in exploring and why?
My primary research interest is currently the field of Marine Biology, but I am open to other types of research as well. I took a Marine Biology class in high school that opened my eyes to this growing area of study. I then spoke to Dr. Janet Nye who told me about the different types of marine research being conducted here at UNC and it furthered my interest in this area.
What is one thing you hope to accomplish in your future STEM career?
I hope to make an important and impactful discovery in my future STEM career.
