My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style. – Maya Angelou
Tania Gavino-Lopez is a native of North Carolina. She is a proud UNC alumna with a bachelor’s degree in Global Studies and a second major in Asian Studies. After graduation, she served as a college advisor with the Carolina College Advising Corps, which aims to provide access and support to first-generation, rural, and underrepresented high school students as they pursue higher education. Tania’s experiences as a first-generation college student inspired her to focus on educational equity and student success in higher education. She earned her master’s in Higher Education Administration at NC State University. Before joining CSS, she worked with the Chancellor’s Leadership Development Program at NC State, where she advised first-generation college and rural students to help them develop and maximize their leadership skills. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and discovering new coffee shops.
