Carol Dannenhoffer grew up in New York, where she earned her B.A. in Psychology at SUNY Cortland. She earned her master’s and Ph.D. in Behavioral Neuroscience at SUNY Binghamton. Her postdoctoral fellowship in the Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies at UNC focused on the long-term effects of adolescent binge drinking on cognitive flexibility in adult rats and associated changes in perineuronal net expression in the prefrontal cortex. Outside of CSS, she enjoys participating in community outreach events, crocheting, puzzling, and playing with her two cats. Her favorite part of being a CSS program coordinator is getting to observe little “pay it forward” moments between older and newer scholars – moments that continue to build the CSS legacy.
