WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE CSS PROGRAM AND CAROLINA?
The strong support system of program coordinators and mentors who want to ensure my success at Carolina and beyond were appealing aspects of the CSS program. I knew attending a school with such rigor as UNC would be a challenge; however, going through this journey with other scholars and support would make it easier.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO EXPERIENCING AT CAROLINA OVER THE NEXT FOUR YEARS?
I’m excited to take advantage of the myriad of opportunities in research, the arts, and the community that will support my diverse interests, and through novel experiences challenge my current ways of thinking.
WHAT RESEARCH TOPIC(S) ARE YOU INTERESTED IN EXPLORING AND WHY?
As the oldest sibling to my brother with autism, I developed a curiosity about autism and the desire to learn more about it. As society continues to develop, our pharmaceuticals should too. I want to dive into the various novel methods of treating illnesses and hope to combine this with my research in neurodevelopment.
WHAT IS ONE THING YOU HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH IN YOUR FUTURE STEM CAREER?
My goal is to obtain a PhD in neuroscience or pharmacoengineering. Striving to learn more about autism, I hope to teach society about my research findings and work with various researchers through pharmaceutical engineering to develop a treatment for autism.
