Throughout selection weekend, I was exposed to a diverse community of motivated and passionate peers who I could truly connect with. Additionally, CSS and Carolina both facilitate and offer immense opportunities, allowing me to contribute to novel research.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO EXPERIENCING AT CAROLINA OVER THE NEXT FOUR YEARS?
Over the next four years, I anticipate using the greater responsibilities and freedoms of college to fully utilize the abundant resources at Carolina. I specifically envision myself working in one of Carolina’s innovative computer science labs, contributing to ground-breaking research in a variety of fields with a focus on environmental applications.
WHAT RESEARCH TOPIC(S) ARE YOU INTERESTED IN EXPLORING AND WHY?
I am highly motivated to explore research regarding the environment due to the imminent dangers of global climate change and the coastal community I grew up in. I specifically intend to leverage my technological background and skills to explore and develop solutions to these impending issues.
WHAT IS ONE THING YOU HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH IN YOUR FUTURE STEM CAREER?
I hope to use my position as a Ph.D. researcher to develop and design the implementation of novel tech-based solutions to growing environmental issues. At the same time, I intend on maintaining an active role in organizations promoting equitable access to STEM education.
