In my STEM career, I want to focus on helping to increase the quality of life in underrepresented populations through analyzing environmental health factors within their communities.




What attracted you to the CSS program and Carolina?

CSS has a dedication to advancing minorities into the STEM field and provides a pathway of support for me to embrace my passion of STEM.

What are you most looking forward to experiencing at Carolina over the next four years?

I’m looking forward to connecting with the student body, participating in the vast research here at UNC, exploring its resources, and of course going to basketball games!

What research topic(s) are you interested in exploring and why?

I am interested in researching the connection between water quality and human health: specifically, the relationship between the water quality in low-income rural areas in North Carolina and its contribution to the high mortality rates of minority women and infant.

What is one thing you hope to accomplish in your future STEM career?

In my STEM career, I want to focus on helping to increase the quality of life in underrepresented populations through analyzing environmental health factors within their communities.
