I liked that with CSS, I would get the support from my peers and mentors to pursue research work on topics I was passionate about.

What attracted you to the CSS program and Carolina?

I decided to join the CSS program and come to Carolina because of the various research opportunities available for undergraduates. I liked that with CSS, I would get the support from my peers and mentors to pursue research work on topics I was passionate about.

What are you most looking forward to experiencing at Carolina over the next four years?

I am excited to make more connections with my CSS community and explore the different opportunities here at Carolina, even if it is something out of my comfort zone.

What research topic(s) are you interested in exploring and why?

I am really interested in exploring environmental health research. I specifically want to research atmospheric aerosols and how it impacts human health. I think this type of research can provide answers to communities that experience environmental injustice.

What is one thing you hope to accomplish in your future STEM career?

During or after my time in graduate school, I would like to mentor Latinx students who are interesting in pursuing a STEM career. As a Latina, I understand that Latinx are underrepresented in the STEM field, so I would like to provide a space for Latinx students to feel welcomed and encouraged to pursue any goal they have in STEM.
