WHY did you decide to join the CSS Program and come to Carolina?

I wanted to explore, find, and develop my passions in the sciences while working in a tight-knit community and professional network. As an out-of-state student, a family-like support system was highly impactful in my decision to join the CSS program.

WHAT are you most looking forward to doing during your undergraduate years?

Research! I am excited to be engulfed in scientific research and experience the sciences in a hands-on setting. I yearned to learn the types of different fields in the sciences. Through CSS, I saw laboratories and met professors in all areas. I am confident that I can find the specific topic in science that I am passionate about, allowing me to find myself in the science and academic community.

what is a research topic you are interested in exploring?

Many topics from geochemistry to theoretical cosmology pique my interest. In addition to having a broad appeal, I am especially captivated by the fields of astronomy and cosmology. I would love to explore research that has applications to furthering sustainable space exploration.

WHAT are your future goals?

I hope to be an academic in science producing research with many positive societal benefits in my future. Additionally, I hope to engage with my community through teaching and education advocacy. A goal of mine is to assist in changing the mindset around diversity and engagement in STEM. Lastly, my other long-term goals include becoming a polyglot, traveling to outer space, and buying a house in Cairo.
