Cohort 04

Hometown: Raleigh, NC

Major: Geological Sciences and Chemistry

Research Interest: U-Pb zircon geochronology

For me, having a phenomenal mentor from the first day of classes made all of the difference.

GRADUATE/PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL:

Boise State University (PhD, Geosciences)

WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE GOALS?

For now, finishing a PhD in Geosciences.

WHAT DREW YOU TO THE CSS PROGRAM?

I wanted to be part of a community of scholars who shared my same core values but offered unique perspectives for me to learn from.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CSS EXPERIENCE OR MEMORY?

I really enjoyed finals week. I liked the constant stream of snacks and being in the CSS suite. There was always a nervous, high-stakes kind of energy in the air that I thrived off of.

HOW HAS CSS SHAPED YOUR CAREER GOALS?

I was interviewed for the program by Dr. Drew Coleman, who later became my advisor and gave me advice even during my interview. For me, having a phenomenal mentor from the first day of classes made all of the difference.

WHAT IS YOUR PRIMARY RESEARCH INTEREST?

I studied the U-Pb zircon geochronology of plutons in the Sierra Nevada using isotope-dilution thermal ionization mass spectrometry under the mentorship of Dr. Coleman.
