Support CSS

The Chancellor’s Science Scholars Program nurtures and supports exceptional students from every background in their pursuit of STEM degrees and careers. Your gift to CSS is an investment in future scientists and innovators who are eager to lead the research and technology developments needed to solve the many problems facing our world today – and tomorrow.

With your help, we can secure the permanent future of CSS, ensuring that outstanding students will continue to come to Carolina and leave prepared to drive successful scientific endeavor at every level of society. We welcome any gifts of support, including financial gifts and gifts of time and talent.

Financial gifts:

  • Student scholarships
  • Summer research funding
  • GRE test preparation and graduate school application fees
  • Enrichment opportunities
  • Recruitment efforts

The William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust has generously offered a challenge match. For every $2 million raised, they will contribute $1 million to the program, up to a total of $5 million. All gifts will help CSS reach its goal.

Endowments/bequests: Establishing an endowment or adding a bequest to your will provides long-lasting support for CSS that will support the program in perpetuity and provide financial stability in a time of declining government support. To discuss endowment opportunities or bequests, please contact André Williams in the Arts and Sciences Foundation at 919-962-6183 or andre.williams@unc.edu.

Matching gifts: Employer matching gifts can double or triple your gift to CSS! Many matching gift companies will also match gifts by spouses and retirees as well as employees. Use UNC’s online database to find out if your company will match your gift and how to apply.
